Service
Custom Software Development
Web, desktop and mobile applications built for your process
When no ready product fits, we build one. S-Tech has been writing software since before it was selling hardware, and the engineering team builds web applications, desktop applications and mobile apps for Android and iOS. This service absorbs what the old site listed separately as website development, desktop applications, Android development and web development — it is one team and one process, not four.
What we build
Scope of this service
Web applications
Business applications, portals, dashboards and customer-facing systems. Server-rendered for speed, with proper authentication, roles and audit trails.
Desktop applications
Windows, macOS and Linux applications for the jobs that have to work with local hardware or with no internet at all — readers, printers, analyzers, scales.
Mobile applications
Android and iOS apps, including rugged-device apps for RFID handhelds and field applications that work offline and sync later.
Websites and marketing sites
Fast, accessible, search-optimised websites with a content admin your team can actually use.
APIs and integrations
REST APIs, webhooks and connectors between systems that were never designed to talk to each other.
Modernisation
Taking a system that works but has become a liability — old framework, no source control, one developer who left — and rebuilding it without stopping the business.
Our process
How a project runs
Five stages, in this order. The first one removes most of the risk and is the one clients are most tempted to skip.
- 1
Discovery
We sit with the people who will use it and map the process as it actually happens, not as the manual says. This is where most of the risk in a project is removed.
- 2
Design
Screens and flows agreed before code is written, with a clickable prototype where the interface matters. You approve the look once, on a style guide.
- 3
Build
Two-week increments with something working at the end of each. You see progress continuously instead of at a demo three months in.
- 4
Deploy
Staging environment for your review, then production on your infrastructure or ours, with monitoring, backups and a rollback path.
- 5
Support
A warranty period after go-live, then an annual maintenance contract with a defined response time if you want one.

Examples
Work of this kind we have delivered
Described by what was built rather than by client name, until we have permission to publish.
RFID handheld applications
Android applications running on rugged UHF terminals for counting, verification and field audit, working fully offline and syncing when back in range.
Analyzer integration layer
A driver layer connecting laboratory analyzers over ASTM, HL7 and serial into a single results pipeline.
Multi-branch ERP deployments
Business systems running across several sites with central reporting and local operation when links are down.
Offline-first desktop tools
Windows and cross-platform applications that talk to readers, printers and scales, and hold their own data with no server present.
Engagement models
How we can work together
Which one fits depends mostly on how settled the requirement is, and how much you want to steer week to week.
Fixed price
A defined scope, a fixed cost and a fixed timeline. Best when the requirement is clear and stable. Changes go through a documented change request.
Dedicated team
One or more engineers working only on your product, billed monthly. Best when the requirement will evolve and you want to steer it week to week.
Annual maintenance contract
Support, fixes, small enhancements and a defined response time for a system already live — ours or someone else's.
Questions
Common questions
Do you take over software someone else built?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We audit the code and the infrastructure first and tell you honestly whether it should be maintained or rebuilt, before you commit to either.
Who owns the code?
You do, on a fixed-price or dedicated-team engagement. Source code and documentation are handed over at the end of the project, and we can push to your own repository throughout.
Can you work with our in-house team?
Yes. We work alongside internal teams regularly — code review, shared repositories, and whatever ceremony you already run rather than imposing ours.
What about maintenance after launch?
A warranty period is included. After that an annual maintenance contract covers support, fixes and small changes with a defined response time.

Tell us about your custom software development project
Send the problem rather than a specification. We will come back with an approach, an engagement model, and an honest view of whether an existing product would be cheaper.
Tell us what you need to track
Send us the problem and we will come back with a specification — the software, the hardware, and a read-rate trial on your own goods before you order anything.
